About the play
“Waiting” is a short new play by actor and writer Lucy Sheen. It will be premiered at this year’s REDFest at the Old Red Lion Theatre in Islington. The director is Will Bird.
The aim of the festival is to stage 18 promising and unperformed short plays over three weeks. With audiences selecting their favourites, which go through for a further “finals week”. The winning playwright will be commissioned to write a full-length play to be performed at the venue. We’ll be performing “Waiting” in the first week of the festival, from Tuesday 17th til Saturday 21st April.
Like the other plays in the festival “Waiting” is only 10 minutes long, but packs a big emotional punch. Two women, Jean, a resident of a care home, and Enid, one of the nurses, share memories and hopes and secrets in the course of a typical day. But all is not what it seems…
